Will I ever learn, over 50 years with a fly and still foul up.

Stephen has asked for the odd story or picture of events at Eglwys Nunydd. I am a new member this season and no doubt some of you will have seen me riding up and down on my mobility scooter, I cannot walk far due to heart failure so am happy that the machine can get me a reasonable distance.

Anyway I arrived at the lake and spoke to two of the regulars; once it started to rain they did the sensible thing and packed up. I carried on fishing buzzers to no avail, the rain got worse after a while so I loaded the scooter and started the track back, having moved some 30 or so yards fish started to move and I decided it was worth throwing a catswhisker for awhile.

On my second cast there was a decent take, the fish decided it would run towards the centre of the lake and my landing net was still on the scooter, we both retreated until I had my net in my hand. It was now time to regain some of my backing before opening and extending the net, this fish was going very well indeed but I was now in control so I thought. Somehow the net decided to get entangled in a button on my cardigan just as the fish decided to run yet again and I was down to the backing again in no time at all.

I did contemplate trying to slip off the cardigan and using the net with it still attached however I soon realised life would not be worth living at home if this course of action was followed. To cut a long story short the cardigan escaped, the net was opened and extended in time to net a rainbow in very good condition and at 3lb 2.5oz went better than some double figure fish I have had this season.
